On this and the following pages, I've tried to avoid listing living people. If you see Descendants Living, that means the next generation has living people. I wanted to show which branches have continued to the present day, but at the same time preserve people's privacy.
If you see anything wrong here, or if you want anything added, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
The Ruarks go to Washington
Thomas and John M. Ruark were both sons of
Peter and Jane (Herrin) Ruark. They had begun their
families in Wayne County, Iowa, but decided a change was in order. They arrived in Walla
Walla on 12 October 1862, along with 20 other ox teams.
Thomas and Mary Ruark moved to Brush Prairie, Washington, but moved back to Walla Walla in 1870. They only stayed 8 years before moving to Garfield County.
John and Elizabeth (Ruark) Ruark (yes, she was a Ruark before marriage, too!) stayed in Walla Walla until the spring of 1880, when they also moved to Garfield County.
