I've heard that the Ruark clan had lived in Caswell County, North Carolina, which is where Timothy Jr.'s children are guessed to have been born. The youngest daughter, Nancy, was apparently mentally handicapped. She lived with her father, and after his death lived with Sarah and Hazel Phelps. Timothy Ruark also had an illegitimate son with Nellie Hargis. He claimed responsibility for the boy after Nellie's death.
