On this and the following pages, I've tried to avoid listing living people. If you see Descendants Living, that means the next generation has living people. I wanted to show which branches have continued to the present day, but at the same time preserve people's privacy.

Some of the earliest Ruark settlers in the colonies were born in Ireland, and lived in Maryland in the very early 1700's. There seems to have been four brothers: James, Major, Thomas, and William.
Delilah Ruark was born in Maryland in 1779 and married John R. Stanford there in 1798. By 1801 they were living in Warren County, Georgia, and moved to Missouri around 1817.
