The Ruark Families of Lewis County, Kentucky

On this and the following pages, I've tried to avoid listing living people. If you see Descendants Living, that means the next generation has living people. I wanted to show which branches have continued to the present day, but at the same time preserve people's privacy.

If you see anything wrong here, or if you want anything added, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Two sons of Ezekiel Ruark, named Jordan Ruark and Joseph Ruark, moved to Lewis County around 1805 and raised families here. Joseph's four children (Mary, Daniel, William, and Sarah) were raised here, and some began their families here.

One of Daniel's sons, John Craven Ruark, married Hannah Cogan in Lewis County. They had at least seven children.

Another of Daniel's sons, Daniel Webster Ruark, lived in Lewis County and married both of his wives there. They were still there when his last child was born in 1886, but had moved to Somerville County, Texas prior to Daniel's death in 1927.
