John and Drusila (Clark) Ruark moved from Pulaski County, Kentucky, where they had been married, to Indiana. Around 1850, they moved from Indiana to Van Buren County, Iowa. They later moved to Davis County, Iowa, to lived with their daughter, Nancy G. (Ruark) Rogers, who was a young widow with 5 sons.
