The Charles Newton Ruark family of Wayne Co., IA, and Custer Co., OK

Charles Newton Ruark (1866IN-1936MO) was born in Terre Haute, Vigo County Indiana and married (1) Mary Winefred Hastings (1869IA-1909OK). He was a cabinet maker/carpenter. He suffered from athsma. Mary was born in Albion, Iowa. The family moved to Custer Co., OK between 1905 and 1909. In 1909, he contracted typhoid and subsequently the rest of the family became ill. All recovered except his wife. Mary died of typhoid in Weatherford, Oklahoma on September 22, 1909 leaving him with five children to raise. Much later in life he married (2)Carri Moore(?) and they lived in Oklahoma City. On a picture taken when he was probably over 60 years old he appears tall and thin. He died from stomach cancer in April 21, 1936 in Kansas City, (Jefferson County?) Missouri. He and Mary are buried side by side in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Carrie is reputed to also be buried in Weatherford but there is not any apparent record. The stone was placed several years after the burials by his son Parke. This is in an older part of the cemetery where most of the orginal headstones were made of wood.
