The William Ruark Family of Ripley County, IN and Lawrence County, MO
William Ruark (1802MD-1876MO) was born in
Worcester County, Maryland, and was there married to Priscilla Johnson ( MD-1838)
in 1824. Shortly after the wedding, he and Priscilla moved to Ripley Co., IN, where
they had 5 children. The family lived there (in Franklin Township) from before 1830
until at least 1839. At least one tract of land was purchased in Ripley County on
3 Dec 1935 (book 1, pg 63)
- Henry Ruark/Roark, Rev. (1827IN-1867AR) - md Matilda J. Taylor (1833-1909) in
1852 in Lawrence County, Mo. He was a pioneer Baptist preacher.
- Sarah Laura Ruark (1857- ) - md Mr. Glasscock.
- Carrie Ethel Glasscock (1893MO-1948AZ) - md Robert Oscar Meyers
- Jesse James Ruark (@1828IN- MO) - md Dicey Potter (1830TN- ) in Lawrence County,
Missouri on 11 Nov 1850.
- Sarah J. Ruark (1830IN- )
- Joshua Wheeler Ruark (1832IN-1902MO) - md Selina Sutton ( MO- ). They were married
in Newton County, Missouri. Joshua was in the 8th Missouri Cavalry during the Civil
War, and was captured twice. Joshua died at his farm in Lawrence County, where he
had resided for 36 years.
- Theodosia Earmest Ruark (1866MO- ) - md William Riley Friar (1865-1947) on
26 May 1889. William was the son of William Friar and Lucy Jane or C. Hudspeth,
and he was a farmer, a Democrat, and a Methodist.

- Mollie Ruark - md Andrew Jackson Friar (1863MO-1937), brother of William Riley
Friar. They were married on 7 May 1893. After his mother's death, Andrew
bought her farm with the house built by his father in 1896. This farm was well
adapted to stock raising, being well watered by Tumback Creek, and produces
bluegrass in abundance. He makes a specialty of short-horn cattle and Shropshire
sheep, and annually raises a large number of hogs. A gasoline engine was utilized
in pumping water, washing, and operating other farm machinery.

living near Emmett.

- Ozias Ruark (1835IN-1917) - md Laura Virginia Rice (1848-1903). Ozias was in the
8th Missouri Cavalry Company L, as a Captain. Laura passed away of congestive
heart failure. They're buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Neosho, Newton Co., MO.

- Horace Ruark (1869-1947) - buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Neosho, Newton Co., MO.
- Eugene Rice Ruark (1878- )
William married Margaret Williams (1818MD-1887MO) on 18 Oct 1838 in Ripley County,
after having gotten a marriage license on 16 Oct. Around 1840 they moved to Lawrence
County, Missouri.

- Cynthia Ann Ruark (1841MO-1902TX) - md (1) John L. Brown (@1835MO-bef1864) in 1859.
